About Sheila

Sheila Chalakee is a producer, comedian and Native advocate living in Los Angeles. She has performed all around the United States at some of the world’s most noteworthy and infamous theaters & comedy clubs as “The Princess of Dark Comedy.”
She found viral internet fame when her YouTube series was seen on Saturday Night Live. She has earned production access to YouTube Space LA in partnership to Google Inc. She is a comedy writer and digital media producer with hits approaching a collective 50 million views.
As an actress in the Windy City she earned critical acclaim as the romantic lead in the theatrical Chicago production of The Man Who Came to Dinner, to which the Chicago Reader said she was, “Among the best.” She then landed a supporting role in the movie Chasing Robert which also featured comedy greats Andy Dick and Paul Provenza. She studied long form improvisation while in college and then at the renowned I.O. in Chicago. She has since performed with various improvisational troupes from The Comedy Clinic in Oklahoma City, SwiftKick in Chicago, and The Mayflower Welcoming Committee in LA’s Native American comedy troupe. She is also a comedy favorite of SkinsFest at iO West in Los Angeles.
As a stand up comic, she has graced stages around the country at The World Famous Comedy Store & Jon Lovitz Comedy Club in Los Angeles, Chicago’s Second City, and The Black Door in Las Vegas. She has made personal appearances on internationally syndicated network television such as E! Network (Post Academy Awards Show-Live), WEtv and Univision.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in both Theatre & Creative Non-Fiction, graduating with honors, from Columbia College Chicago.
As a registered member of Muscogee Creek Nation, she is a champion of Native American issues and recently partnered with BuzzFeed to speak about a variety of topics including Native mascots to cultural appropriation. She currently speaks in colleges around the country as an advocate on gender issues & diversity in the media, most recently at UCLA through the Media Image Coalition & Cal Poly Pomona during the Native American Youth Pipeline Program.
As a model her photographs have appeared in outlets from magazines, national Walgreens ad campaigns, and swimsuit calendars for Rez Dog.
She is also a certified yoga instructor who has taught every age group from 3-83 in schools, yoga studios & gyms across the country. In her time off she performs with The Santa Monica Wind Ensemble at the Broad Stage Theater playing flute. She also loves eating things that aren’t meat and working on her memoir slated for release in 2016.
